子供の時から何回もプラン・ネベー山小屋に登ったことがある。歩き出す前日にスイスシャレー風の「ラ・ツァルーナ」B＆Bホテルで宿泊した。朝食のパンが自家製で美味しくて、食べすぎた・・・プラン・ネベー山小屋までは1,200 mの高さを乗り越えなければならないから、体力に自信のない方々は止めた方がいい。登れる方はゴツゴツした美しい風景が楽しめる。プラン・ネベー山小屋がブラン・ネベー氷河に残された寂しい風景の中においてある。地元の伝説によると、かつては豊富な牧草地だった。そこに裕福な農民とその牛と山羊が住んでいた。荒れ模様の夜に、農民は貧乏そうな老婦人に対して入場を拒否した。「このような夜に誰も旅行しないだろう、バカ！消えろ！」と残酷に言ったそうだ。実は、その老婦人が変装したプラン・ネベー妖精だった。冷ややかな農民の罰として牧草地を氷河に変えた。今のブラン・ネベー氷河がほとんど解けている。妖精の呪も解けただろう。

プラン・ネベー山小屋は、地元の山岳クラブメンバーに管理されている。興味のあるゲストは山小屋においてあるアルプホルンを吹く体験ができる。かなり大きな音が出せたが、酷い音だった。どうやってきれいな音が出せるだろう。夕食を山小屋の中に食べ始めたが、夕日があまり美しくて、夕暮れを見ながら外で食べ終えた。さすがプラン・ネベー、夕暮れが壮観だ。翌朝のコース、堂々としたディアブルレ山脈が背景となっている。因みに、お食事を持ってきていない場合は、アンゼンダ―（Anzeindaz）のレストランにもデルボランス湖のレストランにもランチを食べることができる。「小悪魔たち」を意味するレ・ディアブルレ山脈は、呪われていると言われている。伝説によると、ディアブルレに住んでいる悪魔は趣味としてQuille du Diable（悪魔のスキトル）という山頂に狙いが定まらないまま岩を投げる。だからディアブルレ山脈の平原に大きな岩が点在している。確かに、ディアブレレは安全な山ではない。ツアーの最後にあるデルボランス湖は、1714年と1749年の2回大変大きな山崩によって形成された。山崩の下に昔のデルボランス村も埋もれている。当時、山が別の名前で呼ばれていたが、山崩は悪魔の作品と考えられていた結果、ディアブルレと改名された。300年が経っても、原生林に覆われている山崩が今もはっきり見える。自然保護区として守られている。

シオン行きのバスは一日2回しか出ない。2番目の16時40分発バスに乗った（出発変更がありだから、必ずスケジュールを確認してください）。途中から道がかなり狭くなり、バスではとても取れそうもうないところを走る。


I've done this hike many times. My mother grew up in the neighborhood and usually knows half the people we meet on the way up. We stayed the night before the hike in the cute B&B "La Tsalounâ". The bread we ate during breakfast is made fresh, and we always eat more than we should. You'll cover more than 1,200 steep height meters on the way up to Plan Névé Hut, so make sure that you're in good condition before you attempt it. The route leads through scraggy landscapes of harsh beauty. The higher you climb the better the views. Plan Névé Hut (2,264 m) is set in a stony landscape left behind by the receding Plan Névé glacier. According to legend, it was once covered in plentiful meadows that fed the beasts of a well-to-do alpine farmer. He refused a hungry old lady entry and food during a stormy evening, telling her off for traveling in such weather conditions. The lady turned out to be the fairy of Plan Névé in disguise and called down ice on the cold-hearted farmer's meadows. He and his beasts were forced out by the glacier. Since the glacier is now only a sad remnant, I guess the fairy's curse has about run its course.

The Plan Névé Hut is manned by different members of the local mountain club for a period at a time. The food is usually very good, as every caretaker of the hut tries to outdo the others. Interested guests can try to blow the alphorn. I managed respectably loud sounds, but they were ugly. How do people manage to make an alphorn sound good? We ate half our dinner outside the hut, watching the sunset. Sunsets are spectacular here. The next morning, we left early after breakfast and were well on our way before the sun caught up with us. The Argentine and Diablerets mountain ranges rise above the path and make for an impressive backdrop. Take your time on the way. If you don't have any food with you, you can eat lunch in Anzeindaz or wait until you get to the restaurant near Lake Derborence. Don't be surprised at the big boulders dotting the plain next to the Diablerets mountain range. Legend has it that the devils living on the mountain like to aim boulders at the Quille du Diable ("devil's skittle"), one of its peaks, and miss occasionally. "Les Diablerets" translates roughly as "devils' abode" and is not a very safe mountain, the rock isn't stable, but our path is set far enough from its sides that you'll be ok walking it. Lake Derborence at the end of our hike was formed by two immense landslides that occurred in 1714 and 1749 and buried the village Derborence beneath them. At the time the mountain had a different name. The landslides were considered to be works of the devil and the mountain was consequently renamed Diablerets. The mounds of debris served as a dam, resulting in the creation of Lake Derborence. 300 years later the rocks that came off the mountain stay clearly visible, even covered in virgin forest.

The bus leaves Lake Derborence twice a day, so make sure you catch it! We took the last bus at 16:40 (schedule may change). The bus ride through the hand hewn tunnels inside the rock wall of Mont Gond and its views into the abyss is very impressive and worth going to Lake Derborence in its own right.

The access road to Alp Mora is closed to private traffic, but from beginning of July to beginning of September a bus runs from Trin to Purcs on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
