Hike from St. Jakob, Isenthal, over Bannalppass to Bannalpsee

  ゴサルプでは、木製ロープウェイに乗車し、オベラルプの高原まで220メートルを乗り越えることができる。乗車希望の方は遅くて前日に電話でお知らせください（自宅電話：041 878 13 43）。スイス方言のドイツ語が話せる人が電話した方がいいと思います。ゴッサルプの人は英語が話せないような印象を受けた。9月末にもう山登りシーズンが終わり、前日に電話もしなかった結果、ロープウェイに乗れなかった。
  At Gossalp you'll find a small wooden gondola that used to primarily transport goods, but now also has a license to carry people up the somewhat scary rock wall to the high plain of Oberalp. Using it will save you a steep 220 height meter climb on a steep nature road. You'll need to call ahead (house phone: 041 878 13 43) to announce your arrival. Better get a Swiss German speaker to do that, I don't think they speak English. I did this tour out of season and didn't call ahead, so I had to walk up.

6時間も歩き、1,380メートルの高さを乗り越えなければならない長めのコースだから、体力的に自信がない方々は止めた方がいい。フルーレン駅に一番早いバスに乗り、イゼンタールのサンクト・ヤコブロープウェイ駅に下りた。バスに乗っている殆どの人がロープウェイに乗っていくが、私はグロス谷の河に沿いながら徐々に高度を上げる未舗装路を進んだ。ゴッサルプに着くまでの2時間、ライトアップされた山頂を眺めながら山の影に歩いた。牛農場が景色の一部になっているが、高く登れば登るほど牛の数が少なくなる。 9月中旬までは、農民が牛を高原から谷に引き戻しているようだ。オーバーアルプの「Z'Holzschuenis Alpbeizli」にアルプの優しいお爺さんがまだいらっしてラッキー、チース作りの部屋を見せてくれた。後になってネットで調べたら、そのお爺さんの山羊チーズが人気だと分かった。オーバーアルプから先は山道らしくなる。バンナルプ峠に急に登る最後の部分は厳しい・・・峠に着くと360度の素晴らしいビューが待っている。峠に座り、壮大な眺めを楽しみながらリンゴを食べた。峠からバンナルプ湖までは残り一時間だ。湖のダムの下にあるロープウェイ（フェルボーデン～バンナプ湖ロープウェイのスケジュール）が午後5時までも動いているから、湖のそばにゆっくりした。穏やかで平和的な湖だなと感じ、夏に湖に泳ぎたい気持ちになった。

Right off, you need to be fit enough to overcome 1,380 height meters, and it's a longish hike, so don't try it if you doubt your fitness level. I took the earliest bus from Flüelen up to St. Jakob, Isenthal (the bus ride is very pretty in its own right). The first 2 hours are spent walking steadily up a nature road, with lit-up peaks as a view. I walked in shadows, until the sun finally reached the valley floor in Gossalp, with farms and farm animals a part of the scenery. In mid-September, the uppermost alps are already cow-less, and I was lucky that the holder of the cutely named "Z'Holzschuenis Alpbeizli" in Oberalp, an older gentleman, was still around. We chatted and he let me film him working on the cheeses in the back room. As I found out later, his goat cheese is on several people's top 10 cheeses lists. From Oberalp onwards the path finally turns into a real hiking path, no longer a nature road. The last part up to Bannalppass is steep and strenuous, but the views all around are worth it! I took my time sitting on the pass and enjoying the views. You can see quite far, and looking back down the Gross Valley, I was impressed by how high I'd managed to climb. From the pass, it's another hour down to Lake Bannalp, a dam lake. While I only met one hiker on the Grosstal side, I met many on the Lake Bannalp side which is clearly very popular with hikers. The Fellboden-Bannalpsee gondola below the dam runs until after 17:00, so I took the time to go down to the lake. Next time I'm coming back in summer to swim here, it's so peaceful!
