  このルートで利用するバスは、Gasterntalの奥まで運行しており、事前の電話予約が必須である。予約は 電話番号 +41 33 671 11 72 で行う必要がある。バスはKandersteg駅から谷奥（Selden方面）まで走っている。私は「Kandersteg, Neubrücke/Waldhaus」バス停で下車し、帰路も同じ停留所から乗車した。
  The bus serving this route runs all the way to the back of Gasterntal, and advance reservation by phone is required. Reservations must be made by calling +41 33 671 11 72. The bus runs from Kandersteg station to the end of the valley (Selden area). I got off at the “Kandersteg, Neubrücke/Waldhaus” bus stop and used the same stop for the return journey.

バルムホルンヒュッテSACまでのT3レベルの山歩きは約4時間半だ。このトレイルは迫力ある岩壁に沿って進み、谷には滝が点在しているので、ドラマチックな景色は間違いなく楽しめる。登りは気持ち的に楽だが、下りでは遠くに谷底がずっと見えるため、少し目がくらむ感じになることもある。高所恐怖症の人にはおすすめできないルートである。

バルムホルンヒュッテに到着した後、次回はぜひ泊まってみたいと思うほどかわいい山小屋だが、そこからさらにガステレスピッツ方面へ1時間半ほど進んだ。残念ながら霧が晴れず、何も見えなかったので、山頂まであと300メートルというところで引き返した。やはり、周囲の景色を楽しめないなら山頂に立つ意味はないと思う。下山途中、ようやく霧が晴れ、バルムホルンの下に広がる氷河が姿を現した。これは本当に圧巻だった。。

A 4½-hour T3-level hike up to Balmhornhütte SAC. The trail winds along an impressive rock face, with waterfalls scattered throughout the valley, so dramatic views are guaranteed. It’s easier on the nerves going up, on the way down, you constantly see the distant valley floor below, so the descent can be a bit more dizzying. The trail is not recommended for anyone prone to vertigo.

Once I reached Balmhornhütte, a super cute hut that I’d love to stay in next time, I continued for 1½ hours toward Gasterespitz. Unfortunately, the fog didn’t lift, and I couldn’t see a thing, so I turned back about 300 meters below the peak. After all, what’s the point of reaching a summit if you can’t enjoy the surrounding scenery? On the way down, the fog finally cleared, revealing the glacier below Balmhorn, truly impressive.

70メートルの高さのこの滝は、ガスタータールの張り出した岩壁の中央から湧き出ている。その背後には巨大なカルスト洞窟が広がっており、そのため一年中見られるわけではない。
The 70-metre-high waterfall bursts out of the middle of an overhanging rock face in the Gastern Valley. Behind it lie vast karst caves, which is why it is not visible all year round.

岩の道は安全対策が施されており、最初はかなり歩きやすそうに見える。
The rock path starts out looking pretty easy, with safety measures. 

岩の道はほとんどの区間で、高度への耐性が求められる。非常に露出した場所が続く。
For the most part, the rock path demands a good head for heights. It's extremely exposed.

Once past the rock face path, it's flower paradise!

激しく渦巻く氷河の水が、岩に深く刻み込んできた。
The churning glacier water has carved its way deeply into the rocks.

…この岩の造形は、眼下に広がるガスタータールの眺めと合わさればさぞ素晴らしかっただろう。

下山途中、霧が晴れ始め、バルムホルン氷河と眼下のなだらかな岩肌への眺望が開ける。
On the way back down the fog lightens and a view opens up onto the Balmhorn Galcier and smooth rocks below. 

バルムホルン小屋へと再び下りながら、谷底を見渡す眺望が広がる。

谷底のベルクホテル・ヴァルトハウスでバスを待ちながらビールを飲むのは、とても穏やかなひとときだ！
Having a beer in the Berghotel Waldhus on the valley floor while waiting for the bus is very peaceful!
