4時間半のT3+ハイキング。サンティス山頂から「天国の梯子」を下り、シャーフラー山を経てエーベンアルプまで歩く。山頂からの景色は素晴らしく、アルプスやドイツ南部まで見渡せる。サンティスはロープウェイの観光客や下から登ってくる登山者でとても混雑する山。でも、そこから人混みを離れて歩き出すとホッとする。最初は「天国の梯子」を急下降。高所恐怖症の人はここで固まって動けなくなることが多いらしい（固まらない人の話）。最初の200メートルを下ると、景色のいいフェールアルプ谷の上縁を通る美しいパノラマ道になる。花もたくさん咲いていて癒される。その後、ヘッヒニーデリ峠を越えて外側へ。ここも山々が美しく、さらに花も多い。シャーフラー山が近づくと、道はかなり細くなり、絶壁沿いの細い道になる（動画の4:00あたり）。ここも高所恐怖症の人にはおすすめしない。シャーフラー山頂のレストランの食事はとても美味しい。話した人の中には山小屋に泊まる人もいて、次は自分たちもそうしようと思った。夏の間、エーベンアルプのロープウェイは19時まで運行しているので、景色を楽しみながらゆっくり歩けるのが嬉しい。

4 1/2 hour T3+ hike with spectacular views from top of Säntis down the "Heaven's Ladder" over Schäfler to Ebenalp. Säntis is a crowded mountain, both with visitors arriving per gondola as well as hikers climbing the steep path from below. The extraordinary beauty of the rock formations and the views far across the alps and Southern Germany are a major reason for the mountain's popularity, but it's a bit of a relief to leave the crowds behind and start the hike. Our path starts with a steep descent down "Heaven's Ladder" where people who suffer from vertigo tend to get stuck and stop moving, or so the general complaint goes (of people who don't get stuck). Once we descended the first steep 200 heigh meters, the path turns into a beautiful panorama trail along the upper edges of the Fehlalp Valley, with plenty of flowers. We gross to the outer side over Höchniderisattel, beautiful mountains, more flowers. When closing in on Schäfler, the path is very exposed, a narrow ledge leading along an abyss (check around 4:00 of video), so again, not recommended for people who get vertigo. The food in the restaurant on top of Schäfler is excellent, and some of the people we chatted with stayed the night which we noted as an excellent idea for next time! The gondola from Ebenalp runs until 19:00 in Summer, perfect for taking one's time to enjoy the views along the way.
