Hike across Beverin Nature Preserve into Safien Valley

ヴェゲンシュタイン村（Wergenstein）までは、通常の公共交通機関を利用してバスで行くことができるが、そこからトグマ（Tguma）までのベベリン・アルペンバスに乗れるように予約が必要になる。できればドイツ語で、前夜20時までに必ず予約してください：Herbert Michael Transporte, 電話番号 079 242 13 90。ベベリンのアルペンバスは夏季のみ（7月4日～10月18日）運行している。片道の乗車料金は10スイスフランだ。そのほかの詳細はこちら：バスのウェブページ（独・仏）
You can reach Wergenstein by bus on the normal public transport network, but from there you need to put additional effort into catching the special alpine bus up to Tguma. The Beverin alpine bus only runs in the summer, from July 4 to October 18. Call latest by previous evening, 8:00 PM, and make reservations to make sure you catch a ride to Tguma (our bus was filled to the last seat): Herbert Michael Transporte, Phone 079 242 13 90 (in German is best). ツアーの前夜、ツィリス村のAlte Postホテルで一泊した。夕食は、地元の食材を使ったとてもおいしい「カプンズ」という伝統的な名物だった。ツアーの出発場所へのアルパインバスに乗れるように朝一にホテルから出た。出発場所のトグマというバス停からは1時間もかからずにライ・グランド（「大きい湖」と意味するが、そんなに大きくない）に到着。ライ・グランドは、山から落ちてきた大きな岩に囲まれている。美しい場所だ。運が良ければ、ライ・グランド峠からべべリン自然保護区に生息するアイベックスを見ることができるが、私たちは一匹も見なかった・・・やっぱりアイベックスを見たかった・・・一番大変だったのは、サフィエン谷への超急な道。道はまるで落ちていくかのような感じだった。蝶々や咲いている花、滝に囲まれた谷底にたどり着いたときは、急な下りで膝が弱っていた。サフィエン谷は映画「ロード・オブ・ザ・リング」を彷彿とさせる滝に恵まれている。非常にきれいなツアーだった。

We passed the night before our hike in the Gasthaus Alte Post in Zillis. Our dinner was excellent, traditional and prepared from local food sources (Capuns!). In the morning, we left the hotel early to catch the first alpine bus up to Tguma. From Tguma you start the hike already well above the tree line and reach Lai Grand ("Big Lake") in less than an hour. Lai Grand is surrounded by rocks that tumbled off the mountains and invite people to sit on them, eat a pick-nick and enjoy the view. It doesn't take long to reach the pass from which, if you're lucky, you see some of the several hundred ibexes that populate the Beverin nature preserve. We did not see a single one... The views were worth it, even without ibexes, but I was a bit disappointed to have missed out on observing these big-horned mountain goats. The most strenuous part of the hike starts once the path falls away into the Safien Valley below. The path was so steep that that's what it felt like, as if it was falling away. Some parts we descended on all fours. I was a bit weak-kneed when we reached the valley floor, surrounded by butterflies, blooming flowers and waterfalls. Safien Valley is blessed with waterfalls, reminiscent of the Lord of the Rings movies. All in all a very pretty hike, with culinary highlights.
